Works get underway at St Michael's Sod Cutting Ceremony

WORK has begun on the re-development of a Herefordshire hospice set to 'transform end of life care'.

An official sod-cutting ceremony at St Michael’s Hospice in Bartestree, on the Ledbury to Hereford road, marked the start of the two year project, “We are really excited. It’s going to improve the quality of care we can provide,” said Nicky West, chief executive of the Hospice.
“We will have far more space and a much better environment.”
The first phase of the redevelopment will see a new in-patient unit providing 20 single bedrooms with a en-suite shower facilities, external patio areas and an internal sitting space for socialisation. A therapies, relatives and bereavement suite will also be provided.
St Michael’s will remain open during the building work, carried out by Speller Metcalfe.
“We are honoured to be managing such a worthwhile project on behalf of St Michael’s Hospice,” said Steve Speller, Managing Director at Speller Metcalfe.
“We have a wealth of experience with Hospice projects, so feel we are very well equipped for this particular project that is quite unique in its own right due to its timber framed design.”
