The contract at St Michael’s hospice comprises of the erection of a new build, timber frame, 20 bed hospice extension and alterations to the existing building to provide day hospice, support and education facilities.
The in-patient bedroom element of the new extension is single storey with part flat, part pitched roofs. Support accommodation is contained in a new two-storey block with flat roof adjacent to the existing building.
The refurbishment comprises of general stripping out works, re-insulation of the existing roof, the insertion of dormer windows in the roof space and new metal stud internal partitions. There will be extensive M&E installations for the provision of new, incoming utility services for the increased capacity, with a particular focus on energy efficiency.
Externally, the scheme involves extensive landscaping works to create access, parking and amenity areas around the new and existing buildings and external storage areas.
